The Representative

Representatives believe that everyone should have a voice. Courageous and well-spoken, the representative doesn’t mind being the face of their community, school, workplace, or issue.  Once they realize: why not me? they step up to serve the needs and wishes of the people around them, and encourage others to get involved and speak up too. #represent

Impact through messages

Everyday, reps give others a voice and a seat at the metaphorical table, no matter if it’s at a local, national or global level.  Although not afraid of the spotlight – real reps make a difference by arguing their message until the right (or enough!) people are on board.

Brilliant leaders

Representatives are brilliant leaders, highly empathetic, organized, excellent communicators and strategic thinkers. All while also growing a thick skin. Those are unique skills that take practice and determination – but you’ve got it in you. No wonder that some become politicians, company leaders, or community organizers.

Start by listening

You don’t have to run for council right away. Great reps start by listening to those around them. What are the issues facing your friends, classmates or colleagues? What are the hot topics in your school or community? Looking for step 2? Practice your courage by rallying up your friends to vote in the next election.

In the words of famous representatives

They’ll tell you you’re too loud, that you need to wait your turn and ask the right people for permission. Do it anyway.
